Johann Lafer speaks on family fears and ongoing fight against lymph node cancer

Johann Lafer, the 68‑year‑old German TV chef and restaurateur, sat down for a private interview with Bild entertainment chief Tanja May. He reflected on the personal cost of his career, saying his greatest worry was that his children might turn away from him. Lafer recalled missing important family moments, such as his son’s birth, while serving former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder in his restaurant.

He also provided an update on his health, confirming a diagnosis of lymph‑node cancer. Despite the disease being incurable, Lafer said he is not afraid of death and intends to continue working, living and loving as long as possible. He emphasized that family holidays remain sacred and expressed a desire to remain a guest on Earth for as long as he can.
