Johann Sebastian Bach celebrated in San Juan and Hamburg

The musical legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach is being highlighted through upcoming performances in San Juan and Hamburg.

In San Juan, Argentina, the FestiBach Winter 2026 edition is scheduled for August 15 and 16. Under the artistic direction of Guillermo López, the event will feature concerts at the Escuela Normal Sarmiento and the Cathedral Church Crypt. The program includes works by Bach and his sons, featuring the Orquesta Escuela Juvenil and the Coro Bach. The project is supported by the provincial Patronage Law.

In Hamburg, Germany, a live recording of Bach’s ‘St John Passion’ performed at the Elbphilharmonie features Klaas Stok leading the NDR Vokalensemble and Concerto Köln. The performance, which includes tenor Sebastian Kohlhepp, focuses on the musical architecture and theological vision of the 1724 masterpiece.
