German Foreign Minister visits The Hague to support ICC and discuss EU budget
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul visited The Hague to discuss European security, the EU budget, and the International Criminal Court (ICC). During his visit, Wadephul met with Dutch counterpart Tom Berendsen to address military cooperation and the upcoming 2028-2034 EU budget. While the European Commission has proposed a budget of 1.76 trillion euros, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is advocating for significant cuts.

Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, Wadephul stated that further diplomatic engagement with Russia is only viable if Moscow demonstrates a genuine willingness to negotiate. He emphasized that any peace process must include European voices rather than being managed solely by the United States.
