Johanna Mikl-Leitner calls for federal government reforms

Johanna Mikl-Leitner, the Governor of Lower Austria, has called for reforms and a greater willingness to compromise among the federal government's ruling parties, the ÖVP, SPÖ, and NEOS. Speaking in an interview, she noted that recent poor polling numbers serve as a mandate for action.

Mikl-Leitner emphasized the need for economic stimulus, reduced bureaucracy, and lower taxes. She also advocated for a stop to ‘gold-plating,’ referring to the practice of exceeding EU requirements at a national level. Additionally, she addressed agricultural drought relief and the importance of supporting families and work-life balance.

Mikl-Leitner confirmed her intention to run again as the lead candidate in the 2028 state elections.
