Johanna Steinacher and Loui the ox form unique bond in Ostallgäu
In Hopferau, Ostallgäu, an 18-year-old farmer named Johanna Steinacher has formed a unique bond with Loui, a six-year-old ox weighing 1.6 tons and standing 1.90 meters tall.
Instead of being sent to a slaughterhouse when he was four weeks old, Loui was kept by the Steinacher family. The duo has become a regional attraction, participating in ox races and skill competitions typically reserved for horses. Johanna, who performs vaulting and even handstands on the animal, uses a specially made extra-large saddle for their outings.
