Johannes Golla seeks return to Flensburg from MT Melsungen

Johannes Golla, captain of the German national handball team, has expressed a desire to leave MT Melsungen and return to SG Flensburg-Handewitt due to family reasons. Golla joined Melsungen in the summer after an eight-year tenure with Flensburg, citing a desire to be closer to his roots. However, he has reported difficulties regarding his family's adjustment to the move.

MT Melsungen sports director Jesper Larsson confirmed that Golla has requested to terminate his contract early, which runs until 2031. While the club respects the family's wishes, Larsson noted that the situation is not simple.

Reports indicate that Melsungen and Flensburg are already in discussions regarding a potential transfer as early as summer 2027. MT Melsungen is reportedly seeking a transfer fee of at least 1.5 million euros to facilitate the move.
