Johannes Kepler University Linz publishes q‑extension report for quantum field theory
The Institute of Symbolic Computing (RISC) at Johannes Kepler University Linz released a 40‑page research report titled “The q‑extension of iterated integrals and nested sums in quantum field theory” (RISC Report Series 26‑11, 2026). Authored by Johannes Blümlein, A. M. Gavrilik, O. Mykhailiv and Carsten Schneider, the work extends classic polylogarithmic and harmonic‑sum functions to their q‑deformed counterparts, providing algorithmic constructions, differential and difference equations, and closed‑form solutions for various alphabets.
The authors argue that these q‑extended special functions will be relevant for perturbative calculations involving q‑deformed commutation relations in quantum field theory. The report is publicly accessible online via the university’s repository and is indexed with funding from the Austrian Science Fund.
