Ekurhuleni police investigate deaths of nine women near Johannesburg
Police in South Africa are investigating the deaths of nine women in the Ekurhuleni metropolitan area, located east of Johannesburg. The bodies were discovered over a period of less than two months in various locations, including near the O. R. Tambo International Airport.
The most recent victim, a woman believed to be approximately 30 years old, was found in Dawn Park near a construction site. Reports indicate she may have suffered a fatal injury to her neck. Authorities have formed a multidisciplinary team to investigate the deaths, and while investigators have noted possible links between some cases, they have not officially confirmed if a serial killer is responsible.
One man has been arrested in connection with one of the murders, and police are investigating another individual. Of the nine victims, five have not yet been identified.
