Johannesburg Water implements supply restrictions and maintenance

Johannesburg Water has implemented water supply restrictions in Ivory Park due to demand exceeding the capacity of the President Park reservoir. The utility reported that population growth, illegal connections, and an increase in informal settlements have contributed to the shortage. To manage the limited supply, the main water supply line is being closed daily from 1:00 PM until 4:00 AM to allow the reservoir to recover.

Residents in Ivory Park have reported experiencing little to no water for five weeks, forcing many to rely on water tankers or purchase water daily.

Additionally, a planned 12-hour water outage is scheduled for Cosmo City Extensions 5 and 6 in Randburg on November 3. This interruption is necessary for maintenance work involving 24 tie-ins to connect newly installed 110mm pipelines to the existing network. Johannesburg Water expects these infrastructure upgrades to improve supply reliability, reduce pipe bursts, and enhance water pressure in the long term.
