Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe launches mobile medical unit in Frankfurt

The Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe has deployed a mobile medical unit, known as the ‘Pflasterlaster’, to the Bahnhofsviertel district in Frankfurt. Since October, this converted ambulance has operated twice weekly to provide free, voluntary medical assistance directly to individuals in the drug scene and those without health insurance.

Approximately 25 volunteers provide services such as wound care, suture removal, and flu vaccinations. The initiative aims to bridge gaps in medical care by meeting people where they are, specifically targeting those who may avoid traditional hospitals or doctors. The mobile unit is equipped with a stretcher, seating, bandages, ointments, and other first-aid essentials.
