John Abraham backs anti‑drug drive and football academy in Meghalaya

Bollywood actor and Northeast United FC co‑owner John Abraham visited Shillong to support the Meghalaya government's anti‑drug awareness programme, Pulse of the Hills: Every Beat Against Drugs. He urged young people to choose fitness and sports over substance abuse, noting that the Northeast supplies about 70 % of India’s football talent. Abraham announced that the club’s Centre of Excellence football academy will be ready within two years and highlighted the construction of India’s largest football stadium in Shillong.

He praised Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma for his proactive role in sports, tourism and cultural initiatives, and participated in the launch of a vehicle for the Asha Bhavan Rehab Centre. Abraham also highlighted Meghalaya’s natural beauty and musical heritage during a visit to Ward’s Lake and a performance by the Chief Minister’s Grassroots Music Programme. He announced his upcoming action‑thriller “Force 3”, slated for release in March 2027, and stressed the need to target drug‑trade networks alongside awareness campaigns.
