John Boyega proposes Mace Windu as mentor for Finn

Actor John Boyega has expressed interest in seeing his Star Wars character, Finn, receive Jedi training from Mace Windu rather than Rey Skywalker. Speaking at Rebel Scum Con 2026, Boyega discussed the character's unfinished Force-sensitive storyline, noting that Finn showed signs of Force connections in 'The Force Awakens' and 'The Rise of Skywalker'.

Boyega suggested that a future project could explore Finn embracing his Jedi potential through a mentorship with Mace Windu, played by Samuel L. Jackson. While Mace Windu was presumed dead following the events of 'Revenge of the Sith', both Jackson and Boyega have voiced belief in the character's potential survival. Lucasfilm has not yet confirmed any upcoming projects involving either character.
