John Cena discusses Peacemaker's priority at DC Studios

Actor John Cena has expressed his understanding regarding the shifting priorities at DC Studios under the leadership of co-CEO James Gunn. Speaking on the ‘Happy, Sad, Confused’ podcast, Cena addressed why his series, ‘Peacemaker’, may not be the primary focus compared to other major intellectual properties.

Cena noted that with Gunn and Peter Safran overseeing an expansive array of characters, it is necessary to prioritize high-value franchises such as Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. He remarked that Gunn ‘gets to play with a whole box of toys’ and must address the most significant assets first.

Despite the change in creative landscape following the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger and the formation of Skydance Corp., Cena reaffirmed his commitment to the character. He stated that he remains willing to reprise the role of Christopher Smith whenever needed, noting his respect for Gunn’s creative direction.
