John Christodoulou considers 2028 Cyprus presidential candidacy

Businessman and philanthropist John Christodoulou is considering a candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus in the 2028 elections. In a statement titled ‘Out of Love for Cyprus’, Christodoulou noted that he has been approached by various individuals and multiple political parties to explore this possibility.

He clarified that while he is not a politician by trade, his consideration is driven by concern for the country’s current state. He highlighted the unresolved Cyprus problem 52 years after the Turkish invasion, criticizing the continued policy of separation.

Furthermore, Christodoulou addressed pressing socioeconomic issues, noting that the rising cost of living is outpacing wages. Drawing from his ten years of experience with his philanthropic foundation, he pointed to the struggles of families facing food insecurity, individuals experiencing homelessness, and concerns regarding neighborhood violence in areas such as Kaimakli.
