John Coltrane: Tributes and retrospectives mark upcoming centenary

Events and tributes are marking the upcoming centenary of jazz saxophonist John Coltrane. In Bari, Italy, the Conservatorio Niccolò Piccinni will host a concert titled ‘John Coltrane – L’eredità di un suono infinito’ on October 2. The performance, coordinated by Fabrizio Savino, will feature faculty from the Jazz Music School and various students, performing arrangements of Coltrane’s work.

Additionally, the British magazine Mojo has released a retrospective on Coltrane’s career, including a ranking of his ten best albums. The publication highlights his musical evolution from his early influences, such as Charlie Parker, through his pivotal collaborations with Miles Davis on albums like ‘Kind of Blue’, to his later spiritual and avant-garde explorations.
