John Francis Daley reveals discarded Batman origin for ‘The Flash’
An earlier script for the DC film ‘The Flash’ featured a significant departure from the traditional Batman origin story. Writer and director John Francis Daley revealed that one version of the screenplay depicted an alternate Bruce Wayne who never became the Dark Knight.
In this discarded concept, instead of becoming a vigilante driven by childhood trauma, Bruce Wayne was portrayed as an aimless billionaire party boy without a clear purpose in life. This multiversal approach would have presented Barry Allen with a version of Wayne who never answered the call to fight crime in Gotham City.
Ultimately, the film opted for a different direction by utilizing nostalgia and bringing back Michael Keaton as an older version of the character, complete with his classic suit and equipment.
