John Galliano and Zara launch Re(form) archive collection

Zara is launching its first major collaboration with designer John Galliano on October 1, titled ‘Re(form)’. The partnership, which is expected to last two years and include four collections, marks a strategic move by Inditex to bridge the gap between mass-market retail and high fashion.

Rather than creating entirely new designs from scratch, Galliano is working with Zara’s historical archives. The collection involves deconstructing and reinterpreting existing garments from past seasons to give them a new, couture-inspired aesthetic. The debut volume features dramatic silhouettes, technical tailoring, and historical references, such as those inspired by post-revolutionary France.

The collaboration comes at a significant time for Galliano, following his departure from Maison Margiela and a recent decision to withdraw from a planned retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum of Art due to past controversial remarks. This project represents his first major foray into mass-market fashion, aiming to bring his signature design language to a much broader global audience.
