John Goodman discusses weight loss and health journey

Actor John Goodman has shared details regarding his significant weight loss and the health challenges he faced while overcoming alcoholism. After getting sober in 2007, Goodman noted that he transitioned from drinking to disordered eating, which eventually led him to weigh nearly 400 pounds.

To achieve a weight loss of approximately 200 pounds, Goodman underwent a stomach operation. While successful in transforming his physique, he reported lasting side effects, including anemia and a constant feeling of being cold due to the loss of insulating body fat.

Goodman described his previous cycle of losing and regaining large amounts of weight as exhausting. He stated that his decision to pursue sustainable lifestyle changes and sobriety was driven by a desire to mature and escape a cycle of instant gratification and physical instability.
