John Gore Studios acquires Susan Hill’s complete works
John Gore Studios has acquired the complete works of Dame Susan Hill, the author of the celebrated Gothic horror novel ‘The Woman in Black’. The acquisition includes Hill’s extensive body of work spanning over six decades, which encompasses literary fiction, crime writing, children’s books, memoirs, and radio dramas.
As the owner of Hammer Films, John Gore Studios intends to develop and exploit the acquired intellectual property across film and television, with potential opportunities for theatre adaptations where rights allow. The 2012 film adaptation of ‘The Woman in Black’, starring Daniel Radcliffe, was a significant commercial success, becoming the highest-grossing British horror film in 20 years.
Susan Hill noted that the acquisition is heartening as it allows her stories to find new life through a studio that respects heritage while understanding how to reach new audiences. John Gore expressed an ambition to approach the stories with craftsmanship and respect for the atmosphere Hill has established throughout her career.
