John Higgins joins ‘Scrubs’ revival cast for Season 2

Former ‘Saturday Night Live’ writer and performer John Higgins has joined the cast of the ‘Scrubs’ revival for its second season on ABC. Higgins, a member of the comedy group ‘Please Don’t Destroy’, will play a recurring role as Grant, the hospital’s new Chief Resident. The character is described as a challenge to the protagonist, J.D.

Donald Faison confirmed the casting during a panel at Disney’s D23 expo. Alongside Higgins, Ava Bunn, who plays intern Tosh, will be promoted from a recurring to a series regular role in the upcoming season. Other casting updates include Keyla Monterroso Mejia joining as a recurring surgical nurse, while previous recurring actors X Mayo and Joel Kim Booster will not return.

The revival series is produced by 20th Television and will return to ABC on Wednesdays, September 30, with streaming availability on Hulu the following day.
