John Kiriakou claims CIA is potentially intervening in Brazil elections

Former CIA agent John Kiriakou has claimed that the United States intelligence agency is “potentially intervening” in the Brazilian elections to favor Flávio Bolsonaro. In a series of posts on X, Kiriakou stated there is “credible evidence that the CIA is involved,” though he did not provide concrete documents or records to substantiate the allegation.

Kiriakou issued a correction regarding a previous statement, clarifying that a conversation he had three years ago was actually with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, not with Bolsonaro. He emphasized that the alleged CIA intervention is being conducted on behalf of Bolsonaro rather than Lula.

Kiriakou, who worked for the CIA for approximately 15 years, is known for his previous disclosures regarding agency interrogation practices. He was convicted in 2013 for leaking the identity of a CIA officer while reporting on those practices.
