John Leguizamo criticizes Mission: Impossible as an expensive flop
Actor and comedian John Leguizamo criticized the film ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ during his Career Achievement Award acceptance speech at the Critics Choice Association’s 6th Annual Celebración Of Cinema & Television in Los Angeles.
Leguizamo described the film as “a bomb so expensive they teach it in business school,” grouping it with other high-budget Hollywood failures like ‘Ishtar’ and ‘Waterworld.’ He used the film's performance to comment on industry equity, noting that the ability to be rehired immediately following a major flop is a privilege not afforded to everyone.
While the remarks targeted the 2023 spy installment, Leguizamo’s speech ultimately focused on themes of failure, second chances, and the importance of representation for Latin children in Hollywood.
