John Leguizamo honored at Critics Choice Latino celebration

The Critics Choice Association held its sixth Celebration of Latino Cinema & Television, honoring various Latino and Hispanic talents in the entertainment industry. John Leguizamo received the Career Achievement Award, using his speech to advocate for greater Latino representation in Hollywood. He noted that while visibility has improved since the 1980s, there is still a need for more Latino executives, leads, and authentic stories that reflect the community's presence as an audience.

Other honorees included Judy Reyes, who received the Trailblazer Award and reflected on her Dominican roots, and Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo (Los Javis), who won the Director award for ‘La Bola Negra’. The event highlighted the importance of diverse voices and the ongoing effort to ensure Latino children can see themselves portrayed with dignity on screen.
