John Leguizamo Immerses Himself in Blind Role for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey

Actor John Leguizamo described the challenges of portraying a blind character in Christopher Nolan's film The Odyssey. He wore opaque contact lenses that completely blocked his vision, requiring crew members to guide him around the set and even escort him to the bathroom. The experience, he said, gave him a deeper appreciation for the daily difficulties faced by people with blindness and severe visual impairment.

Leguizamo also reflected on a career decision made two decades earlier when he turned down the role of Nigel in The Devil Wears Prada, a choice he now partially regrets. He noted that turning down that high‑profile part and other missed opportunities have shaped his career path, while his current role in The Odyssey highlights his commitment to challenging performances.
