John Lennon statue in Liverpool to be auctioned

A life-size bronze statue of John Lennon, located on Penny Lane in Liverpool, is set to be sold at auction. The sculpture, created by the late artist Laura Lian, has stood outside St Barnabas Church since August 2022.

Omega Auctions has scheduled the sale for September 29, with an estimated price between £70,000 and £100,000. The nearly 1.8-meter-tall statue depicts the Beatles singer leaning on a peace symbol engraved with the word ‘Imagine’. Once the original is sold, it will be replaced by a high-quality replica to ensure the landmark remains in place.

The auction will also include various Beatles memorabilia, such as rare albums, autographs, postcards, promotional flyers, and photographs.
