John Mayer launches Sob Rock Records and announces new single

Singer-songwriter John Mayer has announced the launch of his own record label, Sob Rock Records, which will operate in partnership with Universal Music’s Mercury Records. This move follows his 2022 departure from Sony Music.

His first solo single in five years, titled “Tom and Jerry,” is scheduled for release on Friday, October 24, 2026. The track, which Mayer noted originated from a voice memo of the same name, was produced by Blake Slatkin and mixed by Serban Ghenea at Chaplin Studios.

Mayer will provide an exclusive preview of the song on the SiriusXM channel “Life with John Mayer” prior to its official release. The artist is also preparing for a 21-show residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, scheduled from April to June 2027.
