John Mayer leaves door open for Dead and Company return

John Mayer has stated that he has not ruled out a potential return to Dead and Company, despite recent uncertainty regarding the group’s future. The band’s trajectory has been in question following the death of Bob Weir in January.

In a recent interview with SiriusXM, Mayer explained that he is currently focused on the grieving process. While he previously suggested he might step away from the group to simply be part of the audience, he clarified that he is not “swearing it off” or saying he will never perform with the band again. He noted that he does not currently have any specific plans or actionable ways to move forward, as he is still processing the loss of Weir, who was both an idol and a close friend.

Following Weir’s passing, Mickey Hart remains the last former Grateful Dead member in the Dead and Company lineup.
