John Mellencamp performs hits on Dancing Words Tour

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer John Mellencamp is currently performing his ‘Dancing Words Tour: The Greatest Hits’. During a recent performance at Jiffy Lube Live, the 74-year-old singer delivered a two-set, 23-song show spanning over two and a half hours.

The performance featured a band including longtime guitarist Mike Wanchic and utilized a musical arrangement blending heartland rock with blues, folk, gospel, and New Orleans bayou influences. The show incorporated visual elements, such as Mellencamp’s own self-portraits and paintings depicting social injustice, displayed on large screens.

Mellencamp has previously expressed a desire to avoid being a ‘human jukebox,’ yet this tour focuses on his most beloved songs. His career has been defined by a heartland rock style that continues to influence contemporary music.
