John Mulaney in talks to star in ‘Get Smart’ reboot

Comedian John Mulaney is in early negotiations to star as Agent Maxwell Smart in a Warner Bros. film reboot of the classic spy spoof “Get Smart”.

The project is currently in the early stages of development. Seth Grahame-Smith, known for “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t”, is set to write the screenplay. The film will be produced by Andrew Lazar and Chuck Roven.

The original “Get Smart” television series was created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, airing from 1965 to 1970. It featured Don Adams as the bumbling Agent Smart and Barbara Feldman as Agent 99. The property was previously adapted into a feature film in 2008 starring Steve Carell.
