John Owen Lowe shares tribute after death of cousin Fiona

John Owen Lowe, son of actor Rob Lowe, shared a poem by Emily Dickinson on Instagram following the death of his 13-year-old cousin, Fiona. The poem, titled ‘Hope Is the Thing With Feathers’, was posted as a tribute during a period of mourning for the family.

Fiona, the daughter of actor Chad Lowe and Kim Painter, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Medical examiners have ruled her death a suicide. The family released a statement describing Fiona as a ‘loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,’ noting that her passing is devastating for the entire family.

In light of the tragedy, the family has requested privacy and urged those struggling with mental health to reach out to the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
