John Rich discusses Jelly Roll's political comments and fan backlash

Country music singer John Rich has commented on the potential repercussions for Jelly Roll following the artist's recent political remarks. Speaking on ‘The Benny Show’, Rich suggested that Jelly Roll was likely aware that his candid comments could alienate a significant portion of his fan base.

The discussion follows Jelly Roll’s appearance as a guest host on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, where he addressed jokes regarding Donald Trump and discussed his political stance, describing himself as ‘pretty down the middle’ despite leaning left on certain issues.

Rich argued that in the country music genre, authenticity is a core value, citing legends like Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton. He noted that while such statements can cause listeners to ‘disown’ an artist, the fact that Jelly Roll spoke openly suggests he truly believes in his views. Rich added that the singer understands his audience and the risks involved in deviating from the expectations some fans may have held.
