John Romero to attend PlayIT Show in Hungary

Video game industry veteran John Romero will attend the 2026 PlayIT Show, held on December 5 and 6 at the MTK Sportpark in Hungary. Romero is a key figure in gaming history, having played a central role in the creation of landmark titles such as Wolfenstein 3D, Doom I and II, and Quake.

During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to hear Romero speak about his career and the secrets of game development. The appearance includes sessions for interviews, lectures, and personal interactions such as photo opportunities and memorabilia signing. The event organizers also noted that fans who believe they can outperform him in Doom may challenge him to a one-on-one duel.

Romero, who co-founded id Software in 1991, continues to be an active participant in the industry through his current venture, Romero Games, which he co-founded with his wife in 2015.
