Hollywood actor John Savage is the exclusive guest at the 39th Herceg Novi Montenegro Film Festival. During the event, Savage celebrated his 77th birthday and promoted his authorized biography, ‘Savage Life and Art: Inside the Cinema Legends - The Deer Hunter, Hair, and Salvador Logline’, written by Nemanja Sarač.

In an interview, Savage reflected on his six-decade career and the themes present in his films, such as ‘The Deer Hunter’ and ‘Hair’. He discussed global issues, describing the modern world as a space defined by a struggle for control and power. He noted that while historical conflicts were often fought over territory, contemporary struggles center on the control of resources, people, and spaces, characterizing this as ‘ultimate conquest’.

Savage, known for his work with directors such as Michael Cimino and Terrence Malick, emphasized the importance of community and emotion in filmmaking, noting that even low-budget productions rely on a dedicated collective effort.
