John Simpson signs two-year deal with Nottinghamshire

Wicketkeeper-batter John Simpson has signed a two-year contract with Nottinghamshire, joining from Sussex. The 38-year-old agreement will see him play at Trent Bridge in the Rothesay County Championship and the Metro Bank One Day Cup through the end of 2028.

Simpson arrives following a successful tenure at Sussex, where he captained the side to promotion to Division One in 2024. His departure from Sussex was attributed to the club's financial constraints rather than personal or professional disagreements.

Throughout his career, Simpson has amassed over 14,000 First-Class and List A runs and earned three England caps during an ODI series against Pakistan in 2021. He expressed excitement about joining Nottinghamshire to work under Peter Moores and compete for honors.
