John Textor denied access to Botafogo SAF judicial recovery process

A Brazilian judge has rejected a request by American businessman John Textor to participate as an interested party in the judicial recovery process of the Botafogo SAF. Textor, who previously held a 90% stake in the football corporation, sought access to documents regarding potential changes in shareholding, capital increases, or new investments. The magistrate ruled that Textor is no longer a partner in the SAF and that any related disputes must be handled through appropriate judicial or arbitration channels.

Simultaneously, tensions have escalated between Textor and Botafogo’s social club. Following a brief period of conciliation, Textor criticized the club's current management and its president, João Paulo Magalhães. The dispute follows a ruling by the UK Supreme Court that prevented Textor’s company, Eagle Bidco, from selling SAF shares. While the social club accused Textor of causing instability during the transition to GDA Luma, Textor countered that the current administration is harming the club by obstructing necessary investments.
