John the Baptist executed by Herod Antipas in biblical narrative

According to the Gospel of Matthew (14:1‑12), John the Baptist was imprisoned by the tetrarch Herod Antipas after confronting him about his marriage to Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip. During Herod’s birthday banquet, Herodias’ daughter (traditionally identified as Salome) performed a dance that pleased the ruler, prompting him to promise her any request. Influenced by her mother, she asked for "the head of John the Baptist on a platter," and Herod, bound by his oath, ordered the execution. John was beheaded in prison, and his disciples retrieved his body and reported the martyrdom to Jesus.

The accounts quote John’s rebuke, "Nie wolno ci jej trzymać" ("You must not keep her"), and the daughter's demand, "Daj mi… głowę Jana Chrzciciela!" ("Give me John the Baptist’s head!").
