John Thune and Mike Collins campaign in Georgia Senate race

Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Republican candidate Mike Collins held a press conference in Atlanta to campaign for the upcoming U.S. Senate midterm election in Georgia. During the event, Collins and Thune criticized incumbent Senator Jon Ossoff, characterizing him as a representative of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) wing of the party. Thune highlighted Ossoff’s voting record, noting his alignment with President Joe Biden and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

The campaign focused on economic issues, specifically the “no tax on tips” measure, which Collins argued would support middle-class families. Thune emphasized that the race remains competitive and will depend on voter turnout.

Despite the push from leadership, polling indicates Ossoff holds a significant lead. Real Clear Politics averages place Ossoff at 51.1% compared to Collins’ 43.3%, and the Cook Political Report recently upgraded the race to “likely Democrat.” While some national Republicans have reportedly shifted focus to other states, the Senate Leadership Fund has invested heavily in Georgia, with total expenditures reaching approximately $25.9 million to date.
