John Turturro stars in New York-set film The Only Living Pickpocket in New York

John Turturro stars as Harry, a veteran pickpocket in the upcoming film ‘The Only Living Pickpocket in New York’, written and directed by Noah Segan. The story follows Harry as he navigates New York City, using his skills to fund the care of his catatonic wife, Rosie.

The film features Giancarlo Esposito as a detective who shares a kinship with Harry. This project marks the first time the two Spike Lee alumni have appeared on screen together in approximately 35 years. To prepare for the role, Turturro studied the art of pickpocketing under Apollo Robbins.

Cast members emphasized the film’s deep connection to New York City, noting that the script explores how individuals navigate a rapidly changing urban environment.
