John Wilson releases debut feature film and opens Queens microcinema

Documentary filmmaker John Wilson, known for the HBO series ‘How to with John Wilson’, has released his debut feature film, ‘A History of Concrete’. The documentary explores various eccentricities and everyday observations, ranging from ancient Roman concrete techniques to the removal of gum from New York City sidewalks.

Alongside the film's production, Wilson and his partners, Davis Fowlkes and Cosmo Bjorkenheim, opened the Low Cinema in Ridgewood, Queens. The 42-seat microcinema serves as a community space that screens a variety of genres, including romantic comedies, musicals, and documentaries. Wilson noted that the cinema project began around the same time as his film, suggesting a need for a dedicated space to distribute his work.
