Johnny Cardoso returns to Atletico Madrid after injury

American midfielder Johnny Cardoso has made a successful return to action for Atletico Madrid following ankle surgery in May. Playing 85 minutes in a 4-0 victory against Osasuna, Cardoso provided an assist for Alex Baena.

Cardoso expressed relief regarding his recovery, noting that while he is feeling well, he understands the need to maintain full fitness to secure a permanent spot. Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone commented on the performance, stating that while Cardoso possesses the necessary skills, he must demonstrate consistency to earn a regular place in the starting lineup.
