In a personal vlog, Gargano explained that the period was a reflection of his struggle to meet professional expectations and the emotional toll of failing to live up to his reputation.

Gargano noted that the most difficult aspect was the impact on his family, specifically his son, Quill. He described how his son would ask if he was going to ‘get the treasure’ before matches, and how seeing his son's disappointment after losses made him feel that it was easier to avoid competing altogether than to face the possibility of failure.

The wrestler identified his match against CM Punk in Cleveland as a turning point that helped him return to his ‘Johnny Wrestling’ persona. He credited Sami Zayn for providing guidance during his recovery and expressed gratitude to fans for their continued support.
