Johnny Theodoridis takes ‘Lampsi’ rights dispute to European Court
Actor Johnny Theodoridis is taking his legal battle regarding intellectual property rights to the European Court of Human Rights in Brussels and The Hague. The dispute stems from the popular Greek television series ‘Lampsi’.
After the Greek Supreme Court rejected his appeal, upholding a 1991 contract with ANT1, Theodoridis expressed strong dissatisfaction with the ruling. He described the decision as a ‘mockery’ and argued that the original compensation should not preclude him from receiving royalties for the series' international broadcasts.
The actor stated he is ‘100% sure’ he will be vindicated abroad, criticizing the Greek judicial system for a process that took 22 years to reach a conclusion. He also noted that the outcome could significantly impact other actors from the series who are facing financial difficulties.
