Johnny Ventura’s legacy celebrated five years after his passing

Josefina Flores de Ventura, the widow of Dominican merengue legend Johnny Ventura, said his artistic and family legacy remains alive five years after his death, noting that his son Jandy Ventura continues to promote his work. Artists and public figures joined the tribute: Milly Quezada posted photos of herself with Ventura, Wilfrido Vargas shared archival footage, and Juan Luis Guerra echoed admiration. Former president Leonel Fernández used an AI‑generated avatar to highlight Ventura’s cultural impact. Ventura died on 28 July 2021 at age 81 after a heart attack in Santiago de los Caballeros, leaving a lasting imprint on Dominican music.
