Johnson Asiedu Nketia leads NDC unity and suitability survey

A recent Citizens Perception Survey has identified Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the leading figure regarding party unity and leadership suitability. The survey, conducted by Professor Smart Sarpong of Kumasi Technical University, sampled 9,330 respondents, including 3,750 NDC delegates, across 11 regions in Ghana.

On the metric of who could best unite the party, Asiedu Nketia received 24.5 per cent of the vote, followed by Minister of Food and Agriculture Eric Opoku at 20.4 per cent. Other notable figures included Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson with 12.5 per cent and Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu with 9.4 per cent.

In terms of general suitability to lead the party, Asiedu Nketia also led with 27.6 per cent, narrowly outpacing Eric Opoku, who recorded 26.4 per cent. Professor Sarpong noted that the findings are not a prediction of the eventual flagbearer election but rather an assessment of current attributes, suggesting results may shift once formal campaigning and vetting processes begin.
