Johnson Matthey completes acquisition of Cormetech, expanding emissions control portfolio
Johnson Matthey finalized the purchase of Cormetech, an acquisition first announced on 28 May 2026. The deal, together with the sale of Catalyst Technologies on 17 July 2026, marks a significant reshaping of the company's portfolio, focusing on platinum‑group metal chemistry and emission control.
Integrating Cormetech with Johnson Matthey’s Clean Air Solutions unit creates a global leader in stationary emissions control, leveraging complementary technologies, strong intellectual property and extensive customer relationships. CEO Liam Conway said, “Today begins a new chapter for Johnson Matthey … we are now a company with a clearer focus, well positioned to drive sustainable long‑term value.” The Macedonian plant produced its 170 millionth unit, underscoring long‑term performance and contribution to clean air, with plant manager Zoran Nikolov highlighting the team’s dedication to quality and sustainability.
