Johnson Sakaja considers joining ODM while pledging support for Ruto

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has confirmed he received invitations to join the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) following meetings with party officials, MPs, and various youth and women groups. Sakaja stated he is considering the invitation and will make a decision at the appropriate time, noting that he views himself as a servant of the people.

Despite the potential move, Sakaja emphasized that any party he joins must support President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027. He expressed strong support for the President, citing his dedication to serving the people. These comments follow remarks by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who claimed Sakaja intends to join the party but characterized the ODM as a ‘shell’.
