Johnsons Nurseries supplies plants for Rockliffe transformation

Johnsons Nurseries Ltd, a third-generation Yorkshire family business, has supplied over 17,000 plants and trees for the multimillion-pound transformation of the Rockliffe luxury resort near Darlington.

Set within 375 acres of historic parkland, the redevelopment includes the restoration of the Grade II-listed Old Hall, enhanced accommodations, and the creation of the Atlas restaurant pavilion. The landscape and planting scheme, designed by Colour Landscape Architects, features a variety of species including mature Scots pines, Magnolia trees, and ornamental grasses to provide year-round interest.

The landscaping was managed in-house by the Rockliffe Estates team. Despite facing a hot and dry summer, the team completed the grounds ahead of the resort’s reopening.
