Johny Placide makes World Cup debut for Haiti in 2026 loss to Scotland
Goalkeeper Johny Placide, born in France and a Haitian international since 2011, earned his first World Cup appearance at age 38 when Haiti faced Scotland in the opening match of Group C at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 38‑year‑old Bastia (France’s Ligue 2) keeper faced a barrage of shots, making one notable save before conceding the only goal of the game when a rebound from his distribution was turned in by John McGinn.
Placide recorded nine shots faced, two on target, one save and one goal allowed, while also recovering eight loose balls and completing 20 of 31 passes. Haiti lost 1‑0 and will next meet Brazil on 19 June in their second group‑stage fixture.
