Johor agro-based industry records RM517 million in sales

Johor's agro-based industry (IAT) sector recorded sales of RM517 million in 2025, involving approximately 1,800 registered entrepreneurs across the state. This performance places Johor as the top state in Malaysia for this sector, contributing 30 percent of the national total.

According to Md Israk Abdullah, Chairman of the Agriculture, Agro-based Industry and Rural Development Committee for Johor, the number of high-performing entrepreneurs has increased, with 48 individuals recording sales exceeding RM1 million. Additionally, 299 entrepreneurs have obtained various certifications, including Halal, GMP, HACCP, and MeSTI.

The state government aims to continue supporting the sector through initiatives like the IAT Expo 2026, which seeks to expand market access and strengthen branding. These efforts align with the Johor Economic Transformation Plan (JETP) to drive economic growth through value-added agricultural processing and packaging.
