Johor Bahru New Court Complex to begin operations in 2027
The new Johor Bahru Court Complex is scheduled to begin full operations on January 1, 2027. The facility, located in Kota Iskandar, will replace the existing court buildings on Jalan Ayer Molek, which will be returned to the Johor State Government once the transition is complete.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said announced that the Public Works Department has officially handed over the project to the Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU) of the Prime Minister's Department. The complex was developed on approximately 6.8 hectares of land at a cost of RM194.5 million.
The new facility is designed to strengthen judicial institutions and includes 23 to 24 courtrooms, comprising a Special Court, High Courts, Sessions Courts, and Magistrate Courts. Additional amenities include judges' chambers, administrative and financial offices, an auditorium, a library, a multipurpose hall, a cafeteria, and a kindergarten. The complex also provides parking for 319 vehicles, including dedicated spaces for electric vehicles and persons with disabilities.
